The single best vegetable korma in town, guaranteed. Everything here is savory without being heavy, sweet without being saccharine. Top off an excellent menu of vegetarian and meat dishes with hot chai on tap and a killer lunch buffet for only 10 bucks, and it's easy to get addicted.

First time dining at India Palace. We weren't disappointed. The service was good, not rushed. Everyone was friendly. Food was fantastic. Nice little find in Overland Park. The menu has something for everyone.

Really delicious naan. I tried the non-vegetarian palace dinner to sample a few items. Chicken tikka masala was wonderful and so was the vegetable samosa. I plan to go back and try the lunch buffet.

Quality of food is bad. Nothing here tastes fresh ,everything looks like stale. You will get sick for sure if you eat here regularly. I am so surprised to see many 5 and 4 stars. I have not been here for lunch buffet but dinner is terrible.

We keep going back and the food continues to be excellent. We've been there enough where it wouldn't be a total surprise if the kitchen had an off night. Apparently that doesn't happen here. Have to get over to try the lunch buffet.

What a wonderful surprise! We had just seen The Hundred Foot Journey and we're craving Indian food. We lived in London for several years and this Indian food would absolutely compete with the Indian food on Brick Street in London! My husband had the Boti Kabab and I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both were outstanding. The service was first class as well. Can't wait to go back!! We are so glad we found this awesome restaurant.

I just realized I had never reviewed this place and I've been coming here for years. Me and the hubby seriously eat here at least once a week. WONDERFUL food and chai! They have a great lunch buffet, but we usually come for dinner because we prefer the relaxing,no-rush ambiance and the food can be ordered to our perfect preferred spice. Owner is nice and service is great. They are very affordable but as much as we eat there we will probably put his kids through college. We are truly addicted!

Seriously the best Indian food in town! The vegetable korma is heaven!!! Everything that I have tried there I simply love!!! We eat there at least once a week!

Absolutely love this place. My parents started bringing me here when I was a child and it is still one of my favorite restaurants. The chicken tikka masala and chicken korma are delicious and not to mention the naan bread. The service is always so friendly and attentive. I always bring my friends here every time we come to town.

Not our usual choice for Indian cuisine but found the offerings to be very good. The BF prefers our usual restaurant but I would return. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was tasty. I will return.

I came here with two friends for dinner on a Saturday. If you're not sure where this was and you knew where ABC Cafe was, then it's right across the street from ABC Cafe. There was plenty of parking so don't worry about that. The interior was dimly lit but still bright enough to read the menu (to me anyways). There were a few others in the restaurant so it wasn't busy when we came in around 8pm. Their menu had a lot of choices so that was good. We ordered a lot for the three of us which were Raita ($1.00), Vegetable Samosas ($2.95), Chicken Pakoras ($3.95), Bhindi Masala ($8.95), Butter Chicken ($9.95), Chicken Tikka Masala ($10.95), Saag Paneer, Shrimp Biryani, Basmati rice, and Garlic Naan. I forgot the prices for some of those but whatever. The staff were friendly and always checked up on us while we waited for our food to come. A little while later, our food came out all at the same time and it was a lot of food. The Vegetable Samosas were good in my opinion and same with the Chicken Pakoras. I thought I never had okra before but I did once I tried the Bhindi Masala. They were not bad and definitely added some vegetables to our mainly-chicken meal. lol The Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masla were both delicious, but I preferred the Chicken Tikka Masala since I thought it had more flavor than the Butter Chicken. I would recommend either of those. The Saag Paneer was okay to me (a little boring to me) and the Garlic Naan was great. I always had regular Naan but never Garlic Naan. Good Indian food here and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and in the mood for Indian food.

Wow! We were wary when we walked in as the decor is nothing special but were wowed by the service and food. I ordered the vegetarian thali and everything from the soup to the rice to the naan to the curries to the pickles were perfectly spiced and tasty. It was even just the right amount if spicy. I just recently moved from NYC and I have found Indian restaurants there to be very heavy/oily and lacking in flavor. To make something just spicy is not flavor. My husband got the shrimp tika and we were surprised at how many shrimps he got for the price. And of course they were delicious. We also loved the side sauces (green spicy, vinegar sweet sauce and some chutney/pickled things) Service was really polite and gracious. They poured our beers w such care. But FYI not all white wines are sweet (out server told us that but I corrected him!) Hahha got a good laugh from that. I don't go to Indian restaurants for their wine expertise so that was ok:) I would definitely come back here- I'm usually wary if buffets but may even try that. It delicious, cheap and has great service! And they take Amex which so many businesses don't around here. Hooray! Full 5 stars from me!

Very ordinary food. Had a buffet over the weekend and the food lacked any punch, taste was average and the selection was very limited. I have much better options in the city. Will I come here again? Probably not.

I have only ever been for the lunch buffet, but after my first visit here in Mid-September I have been coming at least once a week, sometimes twice a week because I just can't resist it! They have so many options and sometimes 'spice it up' (cheesey pun intended, sorry, I had to.) by swapping around which dishes are featured on the buffet . I specifically like their vegetable korma, their chicken tikka masala, their butter chicken, their chicken 65, their beef curry... okay I want to add seriously like 4 or 5 more dishes to this list but you probably get the idea, you just can't really go wrong. The food is always tender, flavorful, fresh (important buffet feature, for me) and seasoned just right. The other thing setting this place apart- the service is outstanding. They always greet you warmly with a smile, they are amazingly (but non-invasive about being) attentive- your water will never be even close to half empty, they remove your plates from the table for you as soon as you're finished, and they are very accommodating to the needs and wants of their guests. I guess that's just it, when I done there, I have never felt like a customer, I've always felt almost like a personal guest. If you like Indian cuisine already, or have never even tried it, this is going to quickly become a new favorite for you. I feel blessed for having been brought here by my boyfriend, and now friends, I highly recommend the blessing that is India Palace to you, as well!

We recently had our wedding catered by this restaurant. They were fantastic. Friendly, helpful, reliable, affordable. The worked with us to get the dishes we wanted, at the right spice levels. We had vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free guests, plus meat eaters and kids and spice avoiders, and everyone had several amazing dishes they could eat. The restaurant people showed up on time and set everything up and were very helpful. Everything was exactly what we were hoping for. I couldn't believe how many people who'd never had Indian food before or who believed they didn't like Indian food contacted us afterward to tell us they were surprised at how much they loved the food. Great compliments from so many guests. Thank you India Palace!

Love, love, love this place. I should have written a review years ago, as I've been coming here for a very long time. The food and service are consistently good. I have never had a bad experience here. You won't find better Indian for better prices anywhere in the metro.

Lunch buffet was ok. Nothing to boast about. Average. I must try the dinner sometime to see if it's better. Nothing compares to Swagat in Zona Rosa.

I absolutely love coming to India Palace! Not only is the food wonderful but the staff is always so warm and greeting. I have been coming to this place for about 3 years and the staff have even started to know my name and talk to me as if they know me. I will continue to come and enjoy authentic Indian food!

I went for a quick graze at the lunch buffet. It was not a total pig-out... just a little bit of this and that. : ) The staff was very attentive and quietly friendly. Of the little spoonfuls of everything I had, two things stand out about this place that should help you decide whether to try it. First, they had veggie samosas and chicken samosas. The veggie were very good. I was not a fan of the chicken. But it you like samosas you can get your fill here... not every Indian buffet has them. Second would be the Tandoori Chicken. It was prepared as usual with the tandoori masala spiced yogurt, but all of the pieces were generous sized drumsticks. They all had been trimmed a bit at the foot end and were cooked with just a bit of char. They were excellent, and it was all I could do to limit myself to just one piece!

Our group used to go here every Sunday until life got in the way. The Sunday buffet is divine. The staff is friendly and prompt and they never had an issue with us bringing in 5-15 people depending on the weekend. I hope to go back soon. Their Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala are the standouts.

Quite a few meat options on the buffet. Very authentic and well done. Service is prompt once you walk in!

Most importantly, they are priced right. The staff is polite and a dinner for 2 can be wrapped up in under $25. This means that these guys are not greedy and that for me is perhaps much more important than other things. Of course, the food is good!

Extra star for the superb lunch buffet. It's become my favorite Indian lunch buffet in town, frequently featuring a beef vindaloo that is perfectly spiced alongside several above average curries. I'm astounded that I prefer the lunch buffet to the dinner menu, but it is what it is.

This is the place all of my native Indian friends tell me to go. It is absolutely hands down the best Indian in Kansas City. Yes that means better than Korma Sutra or any of the other well known places. The waitstaff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I've been told by the owner that their incredible sauces are the product of a grandpa like figure who has been making the sauces the same way for years. Foods to try: Any of the Tikka Masala Garlic Naan Chicken or Lamb Vindaloo This place does not disappoint.

  • Andrew W.

I can only speak for the Lunch Buffet. It's really expensive for what you get. It used to have a few more choices but now the picking's are kinda sparse for the approximately 10 bucks you will pay. I hate it when a place does really well for a while and they get cocky and try to make a bigger margin on the crowd and drive down their cost but also their selection and the quality. I've been having lunch around here since I started working near Shawnee Mission Hospital and it used to be better. WHat they have isn't bad, but if you want hot food with a larger selection, dare I say you try one of the Asian buffets.....

We ventured outside of our typical Indian haunts to try India Palace. I had heard about it from a fellow yelper and from the local NPR food show. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The food was pretty good, but the buffet was quite small. The galub jamun (my favorite part) were rubbery, hard, and overcooked. The service was good, and you get complimentary chai tea with your meal (but no mango lassi or naan made to order). With so many other great Indian places, I will likely not return here, but you'll be just fine if you find yourself dining here.

This is the best Indian food ever! It's anyways fresh and the restaurant is very clean. The people who work here are so nice. The butter chicken and tikka masala are the best. I've been to several Indian places in the area and no one else compares. Keep in mind this is northern Indian food and it is very different if you like southern.

We came for a friend's birthday, ALL the way down here just for the good indian food as described by the birthday boy. He had informed us this place was run by the same family that ran Swagat up at Zona Rosa which had been placed under new management and as such the food suffered. I loved Swagat and I love this place even though they need better signage out front and better decor. The inside seems so brown all over and is very dimly lit. All that aside, though, the food is fantastic like Swagat. I can't eat indian without having paneer naan and I love their chicken masala. I'll definitely come back here.

I found this restaurant through a search for gluten free local restaurants. My husband really wanted Indian, so we decided to give it a try. Very knowledge staff regarding my gluten free needs, the food was served hot, and had delicious, complex flavors. My husband had mutter mushroom, which was different than other places, but still quite good. We chalked the difference up to a regional variation, and enjoyed it for what it was. I had chicken jalfrezi, which was quite good. The meat samosas were tasty, though the lamb did taste a little gamey to me. Overall a tasty experience.

I think this is the best Indian food I've had in the KC area. On the night we went for dinner, the atmosphere was cozy, it wasn't too crowded, and the service was quietly attentive. And, of course, the food rocked. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I adore Indian cuisine. I've lived in a number of metro areas and cities, and India Palace is still my favorite. Food from the menu: India Palace has my favorite korma recipe ever. When I choose lamb, it's always perfectly tender. When I choose veggie, I love the chunks of cheese mixed in with the vegetables. I also like other items we've ordered. Nothing has ever been bad. We typically order take-out when we dine at night, and everything is still perfect when we get the food home. Buffet: They also have my favorite Indian buffet ever (daytime only). Everything I try is tasty and fresh, and the variety is sufficient without being overwhelming. They offer a fantastic Indian spiced milk tea that hits the spot. We like to show up right when the buffet opens for maximum perfection, but it's still good when we come in the afternoon too. For an Indian buffet, I find the prices quite reasonable. Atmosphere & Service: The restaurant isn't huge, so it's always easy to get to the buffet. The decor is not overly flashy, and the seating is comfortable. The servers are always pleasant. We generally either hit the buffet or order take-out, so we don't have a lot of experience with full-service dining. Even when it's busy, I've never found it to be loud. When we come in at morning open, it's always nice and quiet. Location: It's actually easy to miss the storefront if you don't know where it is. The restaurant is in the middle of a strip mall, but it's pretty easy to see if you check the streets its between before you leave. It's on the north side of the road. There is plenty of parking in the lot out front. Overall, I highly recommend this somewhat hidden gem if you enjoy Indian cuisine. If you're new to the genre, stop by for their buffet and experiment. I now live in Dallas, a much larger metro area and still have not found its equal.

My first Indian food experience was a success at India Palace! I went with my boss who has frequented India Palace for nearly 15 years. I was concerned that it was a buffet, but even though it was near closing time, the food was hot, fresh and delicious. As an Indian food virgin, I'd greatly appreciate if they had descriptions of what the items on the buffet were. I still am not sure what I ate, but it was tasty!

Lunch Buffet $9.95 one table of selection, I liked the tea offered which is different for buffet usually drinks aren't included. Flavor was good and I liked how it wasn't overly spicy since my spice level is pretty mild. So if you want flaming hot, might not be right for you. I'm not an indian food connoisseur so it was good enough for me, but for conossieur's I'm not sure where it lies. Bathroom was decent. They had samosas (vegetarian & chicken) which I don't think is offered often either. Fried chicken though was pretty dry and hard. Curry chicken drumstick fell off the bone tender, but some pink which was normal near bone. Tandori chicken was white meat and reviewing it could've been more tender but was not as dry as fried chicken. Beef stewish dish was soft/ tender for my 1st piece, 2nd piece was dry, chewy and chalky, so I guess it depends what you got. Parking lot at 11:50am was pretty full so you had to walk, but for some reason 20minutes late many spots opened up. Inside not overly crowded, I'd say 1/3 of the business was full. I would say 3.5 stars, similar to another reviewer because although I'm not the connoisseur. I'm between a fan and A-OK for this restaurant. I enjoyed the food, but some of the dry meat makes me think again. But outside of judging the meat, just the sauces and tea I really did enjoy.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, I had been craving Indian for quite a while. We had eaten here once before and were pretty impressed with the food so we decided to give it another go. It was exactly how I remembered, delicicous! I had the butter chicken, and my boyfriend had the chicken tikka masala. They were both super yummy. The naan was great, fresh and straight out of the oven. Service was top notch, everyone was very friendly and they kept our glasses full. We are planning on going back so we can try the lunch buffet.

  • Joanna M.

Overall, this restaurant was only average for me. I am speaking specifically about the lunch buffet so am not sure if the food you order from the menu is much better or not. Anyway, I enjoyed the tikka masala (my favorite) and the vegetable curry though I found the beef curry very chewy and tough and the tandoori chicken quite dry. The food was also about room temperature (when, in my opinion, it should be served hot) because of the way the buffet was set up. The gulab jamun had been sitting out for way too long and the kheer was also sort of lack luster; I also wished they had some lamb vindaloo for the buffet but maybe that's too much to ask. I did enjoy the complimentary chai tea however and the service was great. For the VALUE, a $10 buffet and many different options, this place is worth it. I will probably be back again and try to give it another shot!

I have been to India Palace a few times and found their food to be mediocre. The paneer tika masala was bland and tasted like it was made with too much tomato. On one occasion the buffet gave several people in our party an upset stomach. Overall it is an okay place to go for dinner, but there arw definitely better alternatives.

I've been to both the buffet and for lunch and dinner service. Staff is friendly and discreet and the food is wonderful (and if you leave any leftovers, they'll be delicious too). Easy parking, easy to find.

I've eaten at quite a few Indian restaurants across the country and OP, but this was my first time here and I am very impressed! Ordered the mixed Tandoori grill, palak paneer, and garlic naan. My dinner was served quickly and the portions were huge! Everything tasted great and the prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely be back!

So we tried it again for lunch. They have a nice lunch buffet with veggie, chicken and beef options. I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. They had the following: Chana Masala Chicken 65 Chicken Masala Beef Curry Vegetable curry (delicious) Veggie Pakora Veggie Samosa Some veggie cabbage dish Tandoori chicken Rice pudding Mango pudding some balls in syrup - maybe Gulab Jamun? And who knows what else but everything I tried was good. Water was plentiful, the food at the buffet didn't run out and it was lovely. I wouldn't mind trying some of their other dishes - but nothing that would melt the face off someone. Okaybye. Aimee

I'm certainly no expert on Indian food, but for my money, India Palace might be the best quality lunch buffet in town. Very reasonably priced, and they do a great job of keeping everything fresh and full. My personal favorite is the Chicken Masala, paired simply with rice and naan. It's a great way to fill your gut, leaving you with that uncomfortable satisfaction we all know so well. Love the rice pudding as well, and usually enjoy a second bowl.

As we entered India Palace the other night, four gentleman enthusiastically greeted us, before one of them led us to our booth for the evening. I was dining with a friend who had never had Indian before (gasp!). We started with an appetizer which included a meat samosa, chicken pakora, and a lamb kabob. The lamb was very dry, my friend who is a lamb lover, settled for one bite. The meat samosa was also dry and lacked spice, but the pakora was tasty. My friend also ordered the coconut soup, which also lacked the rich flavor she was expecting, and resembled watered down coconut milk. Our entrees included chicken korma and lamb curry. Portion sizes are very large, definitely enough for a meal or two of leftovers, especially if you order naan. Overall, I have to report that we felt our food was under seasoned, however the service was exceptional and our glasses were never less than half full. They were not serving the buffet during the evening hours, but it looked pretty large. I believe they also had complimentary chai, but we opted to pass on that. India Palace is ok, I would not recommend it over Taj Palace on 39th or my personal favorite, Kababesh Grill.

This was the first Indian Restaurant I ever went to, they had a place in Lawrence and I never back down from a challenge. I thought their fare was delicious and filling and something out of the ordinary. when I moved to KC, quite near this place, I would come back for lunch and never had a complaint. Then I went to Ruchi one day and everything changed. Indian Food has Flavor? Indian Food is Spicey? Oh MY! so basically they do what I call, americanize their flavors here, dumbing down the spices to fit the johnson county crowd. I won't say that their food is bad, because it is quite delcious. but compared to the Korma or Ruchi, the food is just kinda bland. Now I have never ordered off the menu, so i couldn't tell you if the spices change when you do, but for me, I'll probably never come back. I still have a special place in my heart for you though India Palace. You stay classy now, ya hear!

We've been enjoying meals here since 1994 and for my money, this is the best Indian lunch buffet in Kansas City. Consistently good, fresh and varied lunch buffet with attentive service. The chicken Tikka Masala and Veggie Korma are my favorites. The spice blend on the Veggie Korma is incredible, almost flowery. India Palace is addictive. When we've gotta have it, we've gotta have it, and we've made many a 70-mile drive from north of KC to eat there.

Oh my. I love the lunch buffet. Here are the important things: The buffet is great and reasonably priced ($10) Chai tea included (skip the liquid candy; coke does not improve this food!) Closed Tuesdays Dinner is pricey but fabulous. When somebody says they don't like Indian food, take them at their word! You'll avoid embarrassing episodes because of your thoughtfulness. Don't eat the crap in that little dish next to the cash register. The folks who say they like it are in on the joke.

This is Indian restaurant is reasonably priced and consistently tasty -- two things I can't say about many Indian places in town. The place is kid friendly with several not-too-spicy items on the menu. The veggie korma is not to be missed as the is the eggplant. samosas are fab - pakora always seems a little over-cooked. Nonetheless, this has become our favorite Indian spot in town.

Good choice for lunch buffet!!! I love Indian lunch buffets for the variety and this place certainly delivers! They have two buffet carts; one vegetarian and one full of meat dishes. This place had about 10 different items including some very fresh naan and some very tasty chicken tikka masala, my favorite. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed the Chicken 65, chicken and veggies in a spicy red curry, even more than the tikka! For dessert they had fresh fruit, mango and rice puddings and gulab jamun. The salad bar boasted a large selection of pickles and chutneys as well. Also available, complimentary chai lattes. The staff were very friendly and attentive and easy to communicate with. My water was always full and they frequently tended the buffet and replenished it, even at 1:30. I will return again next time I'm in town!

I work within walking distance of this place and it never gets old. Very good, but typical lunch buffet. Highlights are the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Tandoori is better than most. It can get exceptionally crowded at the height of lunch hour so it is best to show up at 11:30 right when they open. The buffet runs almost $10. It's also closed Tuesdays.

OMG India Palace is amazing!! I am not a very adventurous eater so when my friends suggested Indian food, naturally, I was skeptical. I was incredibly wrong. I will admit the first time it was good but not amazing but after about a week I found myself craving it. The vegetable korma is my favorite buffet item. It's such a great mixture of sweet and spicy without being overpowering. That with some naan to dip in the sauce and it's like heaven! The butter chicken recipe is not as good now as when I first started eating there as it has been tweaked some. The only thing better than the food is the service staff- all extremely friendly and attentive. If you haven't been- you must check it out.

I can't tell which is better India Palace or Korma Sutra in Westport. I have never had a bad take out experience here. It's true I have only done take out but with a picky eating little one in tow we don't ever get to go sit here. I read a review of this place a few years ago and they said it was the best chicken tikka masala and I think we've gotten it each of the dozen or so times we order. The saag paneer is equally out of this world. Not to mention my favorite garlic naan. You get a lot of food for the money and the leftovers heat up as good as the first time.

My favorite Indian place in the area. Un-pretentious, great menu, great taste, excellent service. They know me and my husband already, for we go at least twice a month. The lunch buffet is pretty decent, but if you really want to see what good Indian is, you better ask for a menu. Make sure you drink their Chai... Mmmm! My signature dish: Beef Korma. That's what I usually ask for. And their Chicken Biryani is pretty good as well.

Sometimes, around 10 am my mouth will start to water for the rich flavor of Indian Food. India Palace's lunch buffet is the perfect cure. It is great for India food lovers and amateurs alike, because the buffet allows one to indulge in their favorites as well as explore new tastes without committing to one entree. The vegetable korma and chicken masala are definitely the best. Included in the buffet which runs around 10 dollars, you get warm Nan(Indian bread), rice pudding and other Indian desserts as well as chai tea. They are opened in the evenings and offer off the menu dining. Although they are not open all day on Tuesdays..Ironically the day I seem to crave Indian food the most. India Palace is definitely an affordable way to enjoy authentic Indian Cuisine. The wait staff is attentive and overall an India Palace lunch is the perfect way to jump start a Monday afternoon!

Go for dinner first, the lunch buffet will not give you the true sense of the quality and variety they have. The service gets better every time we visit this place. The Chai tea is the best I have had at a restaurant. If you are new to Indian, the buffet might give you the wrong impression of the quality of the food because it does not have a great variety and most dishes are in the spicy side. Take your time and go with friends to truly sample what they have. It is well worth the money.

The Sunday lunch buffet is very good. Their butter chicken is definitely my favourite on the buffet. The restaurant is nice and quiet with very attentive servers, parking is easy, and the decor is very functional.

I've been to most of the Indian restaurants in KC and this is my favorite! It's north Indian cooking in case you're trying to decide between a southern or northern style restaurant. But northern cooking is my favorite and have never been disappointed there with the service or food. Buffet is great but the dinner meals are even better!!! Now I'm hungry!

One of the better Indian restaurants in KC (not saying much). There are a couple dishes that are actually excellent -- mainly the paneer dishes. Quite good for dinner. If I didn't have really high standards for Indian food, I'd probably give this place 4 stars.

The food is generally great. However on my last visit the Tandoori Chicken was raw in the middle. When I reported it, they didn't even check the remaining chicken on the steam table. If I go back at all, I certainly won't have the chicken.

I love this place. Affordable and excellent lunch buffet with lots of options that change a bit from day to day. Wish I lived nearer to Lenexa - I'd probably go twice a week. Open one on 39th Street in KCMO please!!!

I don't know why I like this Indian buffet more than most, but it just seems to hit all the right notes.

i thought my last butter chicken craving was in May. it was. i cant say enough about this place. if they delivered i'd order it every weekend, as it stands they dont so i have to wrestle responsible "we have plenty of food here" Michelle into going, happily today the stick in the mud caved after a half hearted attempt of chanting butter chicken! butter chicken and its your last friday of your vacation.. yes i'm talking to myself, i am the ONLY one here minus the leprecans that make shoes while i sleep of course. anyway India Palace is excellence, its friendly, seriously they are SO nice. the gentleman at the counter remembers me, doesnt chide me for being away and always stops to chat. they are kid friendly tonight we had quite a few of the little munchkins in, and they seriously discussed with the parents what was acceptable for children to use as a "kids" meal and what wasnt. i heard the waiter say to the point that the meal she was thinking for her child wasnt for children.. way too spicy he said.. try this one. and pointed to something else on the menu. they have a huge selection of vegetarian options ( Joi) and i've never ever ONCE had a bad dish of butter chicken here. or chicken korma. thier veggie samosas are excellents and i love love LOVE the chutneys, the kheer and the naan. its all i wanted a consistent reasonable Indian place and butter chicken leftovers to boot. all you Overland Park people give them a chance. i am i glad i listened to the other reviews and after driving hither and fro over this area found a place near my place that gave me excellent food at a great price AND it takes me less than an hour to eat. YUM!

so im trying to see what would be the best indian spot for me. This place had less choices than other places. Customer service was great, the price was great but i still think they should have more choices in their food.

I travel a lot, always look for good ethnic food. Have eaten at many, many Indian restaurants in most major cities, and have yet to find one that's as consistently good across the menu as India Palace. So glad it's less than 5 miles from my house too! Great staff too.

The buffets at this restaurant are fantastic on Sundays. I've not had it for dinner but I would say it's likely better than Rucci.

My wife, my son and I have eaten at this one and in Lawrence many times. We have usually gone for Sunday or lunch buffets. All the dishes are very good from the samosas, the rice, condiments, meats and more. My wife loves the lamb saag (lamb and spinach ) when we don't have buffet. The service is really good. Lately however I wish they would throw in something new and different .

We've since moved away from KC, but we still remember this restaurant! Despite its size and strip mall location, the food here is excellent. I love the buffet at lunch--they keep it really fresh. And the dinner menu is great, although the portion sizes look small--beware though, they are quite filling. I enjoy spicy food, and they definitely will make it volcanic if you ask for it... watch out!

Pretty good Indian food, but inconsistent. We had the vegetarian dinner for two to go. The vegetable soup was creamy and delicious. The vegetable korma was a great blend of vegetables, nuts, and spices. The saag paneer and veggie pakoras, however, were not impressive. Also the gulab jamun and the rice pudding were not worth it. Try the weekday lunch buffet first and see if you like it.

The food at the India Palace is wonderful. I was introduced to Indian food in the far east and this is as good as it gets. Very very good.

This place is absolutely amazing. In my opinion, it's the best of its kind in town. While the selection may not be as large as other places, everything on the buffet is fabulous. They are consistent, too. I have been pleased every time that I've had a meal there. If you go on the weekends, it costs a few bucks more - but they offer more selections. The service is on par with what you would find at the finest dining establishments. The management here go great measures to ensure your experience is great. Just know that they are closed on Tuesdays. There is another Indian restaurant down the road that serves a buffet. It doesn't even come close to the quality of India Palace. Try some of the mango chutney as a garnish!

Wanted to like this place, because it's sister location in Lawrence kicks ass. This location was not as good. I had Rohan josh, sauce was good, but lamb was not as flavorful or tender as I would have liked. Pashawary naan was very flat, overcooked, and had practically no coconut in it, and couldn't taste any nuts. Naan at Lawrence loc blew me away last time. Friend had chicken dish that was very good, and was a huge portion. The service was very good though, albeit slightly over attentive, as there were few other patrons. Tea was filled at least 4 times. It is a strip mall location. The decor is very lacking and in desperate need of an update. Think I will skip this location and do India Palace in Lawrence, or go to Ruchi.

The ambience was great and the place was very neat and hygienic compared to few other Indian restaurants. BUT its very low in taste n quality of the food. Ordered chicken tikka masala, where the chicken was absolutely not fresh. The chicken biryani wasn't having a good flavour but cannot blame as its a north Indian restaurant -Not the right place for Biryani lovers. The appetizer - chicken tikka was crap. No flavour, not tasty and chicken is wasn't fresh. All in all not at all a go again!

Went to Sunday Buffett, not a huge selection and most of the chicken tasted old, dry and overlooked. The rice pudding was very watery. On a high note the cantaloupe was good, but of course it's in season now. Overall it just wasn't good. Not really understanding the five stars here, since it would be a stretch to give it three.

We get carry out from here, all the time. At least twice a month. I try to switch it up and get something different each time, but my husband *always* gets the Chicken Tikka Masala. Every. Single. Time. I really like the Chicken Jalfrezi and the Vegetable Korma. Chicken 65 is great too. Everything I've ever had has been really good. Lots of great flavors in every dish! Love the mint chutney. Best Samosas I've had. They are really generous with the rice too, which is wonderful. As long as we live here, we'll keep going back!

This is the best lunch buffet in KC Metro. They have all the necessities including samosas, warm naan, chicken tikka masala, and free chai masala. I would also add that their chai is some of the best I have ever had, and I am addicted to chai. My only criticism is that they serve warm gulab jaman instead of cold gulab jaman. But, I stop off and eat here every time I drive through Kansas City/Overland Park. Their palace dinner for 2 is also delicious.
